A man was assaulted with a 2-by-4 in the Mission district early Wednesday morning, police said.
The 51-year-old victim was sleeping in the 2100 block of Harrison Street about 1:20 a.m. when he was jolted awake after being struck with the board, police said. The victim saw five men fleeing,police said.
He sustained a laceration to his head and was taken to a hospital, but his injury was reportedly not life-threatening.
