A cop had quite the wake-up call Monday morning when he sustained minor injuries after crashing his squad car into a house in the Bayview, Officer Albie Esparza said.

The accident occurred in the area of Silver Avenue and Ledyard Street about 6:20 a.m., Esparza said.

Two officers were in the cruiser when it was reportedly cut off by another vehicle. After the officer swerved to avoid the other vehicle, he crashed into a house in the 1300 block of Silver Avenue, Esparza said.

The extent of the damage to the house was unknown as of Monday, Esparza said, and the other officer in the car was uninjured.
