Saving $5 costs man a stabbing

San Francisco police are hunting for a thug who stabbed a man in the thigh in the South of Market neighborhood last week after he refused to give him $5.

“You should have gave me what I asked for,” the suspect told the man before the attack in the unit block of Sixth Street about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said Monday.

The victim had just exited a store when he was approached by the suspect. The victim told police the suspect took off after stabbing him. The victim was treated at San Francisco General Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
