This roommate argument is right out of the dark ages.

A 47-year-old man was seriously burned with hot oil by his roommate during an argument in their Tenderloin apartment Tuesday, police said.

The victim was reading in the kitchen about 2:45 a.m. when his roommate, identified by police as 48-year-old Felipe Manrique, pictured, came home, appearing to be intoxicated, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said.

Manrique reportedly began heating oil, presumably to cook food with, before walking out of the kitchen and turning off the light.

After the victim turned the light back on, an argument ensued that culminated in Manrique flinging the hot oil from the pan onto the victim’s face, Fong said.

The victim flagged down officers in front of the Tenderloin Police Station to report the incident. The victim had burns on his arms and face, Fong said. He was treated for his injuries at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and released.

Manrique was arrested and is charged with aggravated assault and battery with serious injury, both felonies.
