As if cruelly beating two adult dogs and stealing their young puppies wasn’t bad enough, a possible suspect in a Bayview burglary last week later called the victimized homeowner wanting to sell her own pups back to her, police said.

Police are hoping a member of the public can help them track down whoever is responsible for the heartless crime.

On Tuesday, someone broke into a home in the 100 block of Cameron Way between 9 a.m. and noon and ransacked the place, police said.

During the burglary, the adult parents of the puppies were badly beaten, likely with some kind of blunt object, and their four three- to four-week-old puppies were taken from a bedroom, police reported. A laptop and a television set were also stolen.

Adding insult to injury, the very next day, someone contacted the dogs’ owner, offering to sell the puppies back to her for $200, but the woman did not have the money, police said.

The puppies are tan and black-colored miniature Doberman Pinscher and Beagle mixed-breeds, and were still nursing, according to police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Sgt. Neil Cunningham of Bayview Station at (415) 671-2300 or the station’s anonymous tip line at (415) 822-8147.
