A man was critically wounded in Bernal Heights on Saturday while trying to flee gun-toting juveniles, police said.
The 59-year-old victim was shot in the upper torso in the 500 block of Alemany Boulevard about 8:20 p.m. after refusing to hand over his property to the young crooks, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said.
The suspects, described by police as young black men, fled on foot. The victim’s condition as of Monday afternoon was still critical, Fong said.
Earlier in the day, there were two shootings in the Bayview. A 20-year-old man was shot while standing on a Muni platform near Third and Gillman streets about 12:50 p.m. He told cops he heard two shots, realized he’d been shot and then went to the hospital. His injuries were not life threatening.
About an hour later, a 21-year-old man was standing on the corner at LaSalle Avenue and Garlington Court with a group of people when they heard shots. The man suffered a bullet wound to the leg. He was transported to the hospital for his injuries that were not life threatening, police said.
