A man just said no when he found a 2-pound bag of marijuana unattended on a Richmond district sidewalk early Wednesday.
The apparently clear-headed citizen was walking by the bus stop on Fulton Street near 16th Avenue about 4:35 a.m. when he spotted the bag on the sidewalk, police at Richmond Station said Thursday.
The bag had a tear on it and he could see marijuana inside, police said.
He called police, who responded and discovered that about two pounds of weed was in the bag. The bag was sent to a police lab and is slated for destruction, police said.
Police have no idea how the bag ended up there, or to whom it belonged. The value of the marijuana was not assessed before it was sent for destruction, a police official said.
Cops say the citizen did the right thing.
“Maybe he’s got kids that go to that bus stop every day,” the official said.
