Teen bonfire parties often include heart-wrenching tales of love and struggle.
Two teens were hauled to the hospital for alcohol intoxication at a wild Saturday night bonfire fiesta in the woods of El Granada. Also, one distraught girl whose boyfriend broke up with her jumped on the hood of his car and was thrown off at the party.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday they were called to the party around 11:40 p.m. at Coral Reef and Sevilla avenues.
A citizen called sheriff’s deputies about a group of teenagers partying in a wooded hill. They came upon a heartbroken partygoer appearing to be injured. She apparently told deputies her tale of lost love, and then declined the offer of medical attention.
For some young people, the partying continued into Sunday morning. Deputies returned to the area around 1 a.m. to make sure the teens were gone. A neighbor told them several teenagers were still boozing in the forest. While deputies drove up a dirt road, they found a 14-year-old boy passed out from hard liquor, deputies said.
He and another drunken boy were transported to a local hospital for alcohol intoxication, deputies said.
Firefighters arrived to put out the bonfire.
