San Francisco homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in hunting down a Riverside County man wanted on suspicion of murdering his wife in a Lombard Street hotel.

The manhunt for Billy Waterman, 59, of Palm Desert, was first launched after a maid found 47-year-old Coleen Waterman’s body in a Ramada Inn hotel room on Feb. 10. The vanishing hubby is suspected of “brutally” murdering her, police said.

About a half-hour before the body was discovered, sheriff’s deputies in San Mateo County found Waterman’s car parked and abandoned on Highway 1 at Devil’s slide. Waterman wasn’t found following a five-hour search of the area.

Days before the murder, Waterman and his wife were reported missing by their daughter.

Billy Waterman is described as a white man, 6-feet tall, 160 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at (415) 553-1145 or (415) 553-1071.
