Teenager shot in the back in Bayview

A teenager who was shot in the back in San Francisco’s Bayview district is expected to survive, according to police.

San Francisco police went to the area of Third Street and Newcomb Avenue just after 10 p.m. Saturday after there were reports of five to six gunshots, police said.

Once their, officers found an 18-year-old man who had been shot in the back.

The teenager was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening, according to police.

No arrests had been made in the shooting as of Monday morning.

SFPD's gang task force is investigating the case. Also, police are looking at surveillance footage from cameras in the area.
