Three crooks robbed an 11-year-old boy of an iPad at a West Portal coffee shop Wednesday, police said.
The boy was with his family at the shop near West Portal Station around 12:30 p.m. One of the crooks snagged the iPad, then all three fled the shop. The boy was not injured, police said.
Thanks to a brave citizen, the crooks were captured, police said.
The citizen followed the suspects and called the police, offering a detailed description of the thugs and the direction they were headed.
A nearby beat officer saw two suspects and detained them. Other responding officers saw a third suspect and ordered him to stop. The suspect made a run for it, but “gave up” after a short foot pursuit, police said.
The three suspects were booked on robbery charges, police said.
