It was worth a try.
A 20-year-old man who was being robbed at a Muni bus stop early Wednesday morning handed two muggers just $1, then said “no” when the thugs asked him for more loot, according to police.
The robbery occurred at Fillmore and Sutter streets at 12:25 a.m., police said.
One of the two crooks then whipped out a knife, convincing the victim to give up more money, his wallet and his cell phone, police said.
The suspects, described as being in their early to mid-20s, fled and there has been no arrest, police said.
