Man hit in face, robbed on Muni in latest violence on transit service

Stabbings, fights, cops beaten, fare inspectors attacked and rumors of its chief leaving.

Muni takes enough hits in the press for its problems and service, but what about the seemingly endless assault on its passengers?

In the latest attack on a Muni rider, a 40-year-old man was punched in the face several

times before having his wallet lifted Sunday, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The man was sitting on the bus around 4:40 p.m. near Mission and Geneva streets when two young toughs in their 20s approached and asked for the man’s wallet, cops said.

The man refused and one of the thugs punched him in the face two to three times, police said, as the other thug grabbed his wallet.

The hooligans fled the bus and no arrests have been made.
