Victim of attempted robbery fends off attackers

With a gun to his head, a robbery victim refused to give up his wallet to thugs in the Excelsior district Friday and thwarted the theft, police said.

Two men attempted to rob the reluctant victim at Geneva Avenue and Athens Street around 10:43 p.m. One suspect pulled a gun from his jacket pocket, but the victim would not comply with his demands, police said.

“Both

suspects beat the victim, pulling off his hat and shirt,” police said. “The suspects were unable to get the victim’s wallet, though they tried.”

The suspects fled and were not found following a police search.

The victim suffered facial injuries, police said.
