In October there were five reported rapes and that number increased to nine in November. This uptick, however, is not the sign of a serial rapist, the San Francisco Police Department said Monday amid questions about why there was an increase in such crimes.
“I can assure you we do not have a serial rapist,” Captain Mike Biel told the Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee.

Reports of rapes are down compared with the same time last year. There were 149 reported rapes at this time last year, and 132 this year.
