Pelosi nearly tied with Palin in unfavorability poll

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is viewed mostly unfavorably by the public, a CNN/Opinion Research Poll released Wednesday indicates, while many people have no idea who House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, is.

A poll taken last week of 1,024 adults showed 51 percent viewed Pelosi,  unfavorably, compared with 33 percent who gave her a favorable rating.

Pelosi, D-Calif., is nearly tied in with former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who earned an unfavorable rating of 52 percent and a favorable rating of 38 percent.

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, was viewed unfavorably by 23 percent of those asked, while only 22 gave him a favorable score. Boehner was less familiar to those surveyed, however, with 39 percent saying they had never heard of him. Only 9 percent said they did not know of Pelosi.

Few people knew of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, either.

The Kentucky Republican was familiar to 66 percent of those surveyed, with 26 percent viewing him favorably and 24 percent giving him an unfavorable score.

House Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., got a higher unfavorable score of 37 percent, with 24 percent reporting a favorable view of him and 26 percent saying they have never heard of him.
