Trailing late in his primary challenge to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, R-Ariz., has produced this ad harping on the illegal immigration issue:

Note that the quotation from McCain — “I chose lying” — comes from the audio version of his book, in which he expresses regret over backing the flying of the Confederate Flag in South Carolina during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Note also that Hayworth’s extremely immigration-heavy campaign in 2006 did not save him from defeat, although the current immigration controversy could make these sorts of tactics more effective for now.
