President Obama will meet tonight with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., as Republicans and Democrats struggle to find agreement on a deal to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.
Republican House members are now talking via conference call to Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who said he wants to create a framework for a deal that encompasses the GOP's "cut, cap and balance plan."
That measure, which passed

the House and did not pass in the Senate, has little chance of ending up on Obama's desk for signature, but Republicans feel they can pressure Democrats into approving something close to it as an August 2 deadline looms for raising the debt ceiling.
Boehner is looking at a plan to raise the debt ceiling in two increments with at least the $3 trillion in savings that he had negotiated with Obama last week before those talks broke down.
