Rep. Charlie Rangel has been convicted on 11 of 13 ethics charges against him, the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct announced Tuesday.
“We did achieve consensus,” Committee Chair Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., said.
Lofgren said two of the charges were rolled into one. Most were voted on unanimously but one charge received a 7 to 1 vote. The panel is bipartisan, made up of eight members.
The committee will now meet to decide Rangel’s punishment, which could range from censure to expulsion.
