A motorist driving on Interstate Highway 880 in the East Bay this afternoon called the California Highway Patrol after spotting his own stolen trailer driven by another person, a CHP spokesman said.
The call came in at about 12:30 p.m., and CHP officers pulled over the trailer on southbound I-880 between state Highway 92 and West Tennyson Road in Hayward, CHP Officer R. Crawford said.
Southbound lanes were closed briefly as the situation unfolded, but the suspect was taken into custody willingly and the roadway reopened, Crawford said.
