In Paolo Giordano’s bestselling book “The Solitude of Prime Numbers,” the tale of tragedy-haunted characters Alice and Mattia, Giordano writes “Prime numbers are divisible only by one and themselves. They stand in their place defiantly in the infinite series of natural numbers, squashed in between two others, but a step further on than the rest ... suspicious and solitary.” And lone-wolf local rock auteur Mike Patton — of Fantomas/Tomahawk/Mondo Cane/Faith No More renown — can definitely relate.

Especially since he contributed songs to the film version of the novel, starring Isabella Rossellini.

Now, Patton has gone one step further.

On Nov. 11, via his imprint Ipecac, he’ll be releasing a tribute of sorts, “Music From The Film And Inspired By The Book The Solitude Of Prime Numbers.”

He calls this cinematic album a real “sonic departure,” and he’s dutifully numbered the 16 tracks in perfect prime fashion — 3, 5, 7, and so on, up to 53.

It will also be released in a beautiful embossed digipak, with a locking cut-out leaf mechanism that seals/opens it.
