They’re baaaack!

It’s hard to believe that three long years have passed since the heartwarming, often hilarious documentary “Anvil! The Story Of Anvil” from filmmaker Sascha Gervasi first wowed America. And if by some ridiculously slim chance you haven’t seen this painfully true story of Canadian metal outfit Anvil, who never said die after three decades of near-anonymity, rent it.

Now. And founding members Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow (guitar/vocals) and drummer Robb Reiner are keeping the true-believer ball rolling with an upcoming San Francisco date on Oct. 27 at the Red Devil Lounge. They’ll be backing their recent 14th salvo, “Juggernaut Of Justice,” on The End Records.

And Anvil has something new up its sleeve, as well – a refresher course for anyone who missed their surreal career trajectory (which, in truth, is just about everyone out there): “Monument Of Metal: The Very Best Of Anvil,” via The End.

Included, of course, are signature headbangers like “Mothra,” “Metal On Metal” and their movie-immortalized “Thumbhang” (don’t ask; see the film already).

And Kudlow had this appropriately Anvil-ish comment on the collection: “These tracks are among some of our favorites. Picking them was not easy as, generally speaking, we love everything we’ve ever done.”
