Get ready for a Scott Weiland Christmas

Scott Weiland certainly isn’t resting on his bad-boy laurels.

The ex-Velvet Revolver frontfellow recently rejoined his veteran outfit Stone Temple Pilots for an eponymous comeback record and tour, while simultaneously forming his own label, Softdrive Records, and even publishing a trashy, tell-all autobiography. But he’s far from finished for the year.

On Oct. 25, via Rhino, Weiland will issue — get this — his own seasonal set, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” featuring timeless Yuletide classics plus his own classy number, “Happy Christmas And Many More.”

And he’s in fully orchestrated lounge-singer mode

on the self-produced disc.

The concept began two years ago, when Weiland performed “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” And he has fun with the concept, putting a steel-drum reggae topspin on “O Holy Night,” a bossa nova twist in “Silent Night” and jazzy edges on “What Child Is This?”

“A lot of these songs were written during times of strife in our country and, in fact, around the world,” he explains of his decision to release this now. “Are these times really so different?”
