Kings of Leon cancel large chunk of tour due to exhaustion

Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill should have been on top of the world. He just married his girlfriend, model Lily Aldridge, and the band’s camp was abuzz with activity, including a current world juggernaut and a new full-length documentary, “Talihina Sky.”

But last week at a KOL gig in Dalas, things went horribly wrong. After repeatedly complaining about the heat onstage, the singer abruptly informed the crowd “I’m gonna go backstage and vomit.” He promised to drink a beer and return for three more songs; He never came back.

And now there comes this announcement via tour promoters Livenation – the entire Stateside leg has been scrapped, including a Sept. 10 date at Shoreline in Mountain View.

“We are so sorry to say Kings Of Leon are cancelling their entire U.S. tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion," the announcement reads. "The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break. Unfortunately, the U.S. dates cannot be rescheduled due to the band’s international tour schedule. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. Tickets purchased online or via phones will be automatically refunded. The band resume touring in Canada at the Rogers Center in Vancouver, B.C. on Sept. 28. That show was originally scheduled for Sept 14.”

Followill cryptically informed a reporter “I’m just trying to get better.” But bassist Jared Followill used Twitter to add “I cannot lie – there are problems in our band bigger than not drinking Gatorade.” Follow the Followills at www.kingsofleon.com.
