PJ Harvey books San Francisco tour date

If you were planning on driving deep into the California desert just to catch pint-sized powerhouse PJ Harvey, forget it chum — that hugely-popular spring festival is already sold out.

So why not stay here in San Francisco and just cab it instead, eh?

Head down to The Warfield on April 14 when Harvey and her illustrious backing band (John Parish, Mick Harvey and Jean-Marc Butty) play their only other West Coast date. No sunblock required.

Harvey is touring behind “Let England Shake,” her new eighth solo set for Vagrant.

It hits U.S. stores Feb. 15, but iTunes and Amazon are both taking preorders. And judging by the five-star overseas reviews, the bare-knuckled album — with scrappy new numbers like “Written On The Forehead” and “The Word That Maketh Murder” — is turning out to be one of the always-inventive trailblazer’s career highlights.

So put away that frilly Coachella parasol and grab your best ebony-Goth duds out of mothballs instead.
