Blake Shelton certainly didn’t mince words in his duties as host of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
At Sunday’s event, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the singer and coach on “The Voice” took aim at Britney Spears, who is in residency at Planet Hollywood in Sin City.
“If you don’t like live music, then you need to go down the block and see Britney Spears,” he told the crowd of country crooners — including Brit’s little sister Jamie Lynn Spears.
In Touch magazine reports that no one was off-limits for Shelton and co-host Luke Bryan. Others in the line of fire included Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.
Shelton also thanked Carrie Underwood for helping country music stars become Broadway staples, commenting, “There’s talk about Dolly Parton being in ‘Hello Dolly’ and Reba McEntire and Vince Gill being in ‘Oklahoma!’”
Bryan shot back: “You and Miranda Lambert would be perfect for ‘Beauty and the Beast’!”
