Bay Area airports, BART boost security following bin Laden’s death

You’ll see more cops on BART and at Bay Area airports as the federal government warns against possible retaliatory attacks following Osama bin Laden’s killing.

As of Monday, delays at transit agencies weren’t expected despite a federal government issued high alert.

Security is unchanged at San Francisco International Airport, though police say they will be extra vigilant.

BART stations upped security, with all cops on staff working to protect the system, spokesman Linton Johnson said.

“[The increase will be in effect] for as long as it takes to feel comfortable,” Johnson said.

San Francisco's Muni has staffed more field inspectors along Muni routes throughout The City, agency spokesman Paul Rose said.
