Bay 101 Casino is “San Jose’s Place to Play” and San Francisco poker players should start to take notice.

With the recent addition of nine poker tables, there are more opportunities to play than ever.

“Bay 101 is a card room. Games of skill are allowed here, which would include poker or blackjack or things of that nature,” Director of Marketing Rich Alvari said. “We are not allowed to play games of chance, which include slot machines, video poker, roulette or things of that nature.”

Bay 101 offers no-limit Texas hold ’em, Texas hold ’em, Omaha high-low baccarat, 21st-century blackjack, pai gow poker, three-card poker, pai gow tiles and a new addition, EZ baccarat.

With 49 tables of card games, players have a short waiting list for a table. Bay 101 is able to provide more games for all limits.

“We have a beautiful facility,” Alvari said. “It’s a very nice place to play card games, unlike maybe anything else in the state.”

The high-limit action is very popular, with $80- to $160-limit hold ’em daily and $100- to $200-limit hold ’em at various times throughout the week.

The Bay 101 Open is set to take place this summer from Aug. 22 to Aug. 29.

The casino will be a prominent stop on the World Poker Tour in 2012. Bay 101 is also trying to set up satellite events for the 2011 World Series of Poker main event.

“We have started all of our Texas hold ’em satellite tournaments that would allow people — should they win them — to gain entrance in the Bay 101 Open,” Alvari said.

Perhaps it’s best to hear what a poker legend has to say about Bay 101.

“The Bay 101 Casino is the friendliest place to play poker in the Bay Area, by far. The dealers, the staff and the floor people make a person feel comfortable.” Phil Hellmuth Jr. said.
