Balboa Park BART Station reopens after fatality on tracks

The Balboa Park BART Station in San Francisco has reopened this afternoon after being closed for more than four hours when a person died on the tracks.

The station reopened at 4:49 p.m., BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

Trains were making normal stops at all stations but there was still a 10-minute delay on the San Francisco line in the Pittsburg/Bay Point, Dublin/Pleasanton, San Francisco International Airport and Millbrae directions, according to BART officials.

The station, located at 401 Geneva Ave., was closed shortly before 12:30 p.m. following a report of a person under an eastbound train.

BART police and the San Francisco medical examiner's office are investigating the incident.
