Attack on BART train ends in struggle with police

A battery on a female victim on a BART train this morning in San Francisco ended with a struggle between a city police sergeant and a suspect at the Montgomery station, according to BART police.

BART officials first reported delays because of the police activity at 7:40 a.m.

San Francisco police arrested the suspect, whose name was not immediately being released, BART police Lt. Aaron Ledford said.

The Pittsburg/Bay Point-bound train was delayed 12 minutes and prompted 10- to 15-minute delays on trains systemwide, BART officials said.

BART officials reported that service had returned to normal as of 9:40 a.m.
