Art U women’s basketball ends slide, wins two straight

After starting the season 0-4, the Academy of Art women’s basketball won a pair of games at the Cal State East Bay Thanksgiving Shootout over the weekend.

The Urban Knights beat Humboldt State, 73-62, on Saturday. Junior guard Jazzlyn Brewster led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.

On Sunday, Art U jumped out against the host CS-EB in the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run, which prompted a 57-54 victory. Rodericka Ward scored a game-high 19 points, including 11 in the third quarter.
