Missing SF woman found slain in Pacifica

A San Francisco woman who was reported missing in February was found dead in Pacifica last weekend, San Bruno police said Friday. Cecilia Zamora, 36, was reported missing to San Francisco police on Feb. 15. Relatives said she was possibly heading to her cousin's home in San Bruno after she had last been seen at a home in the 300 block of Colby Street in San Francisco on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. She was last heard from on Feb. 12. Booze shortage leads to metal pipe attack

A man was struck in the head with a metal pipe because he refused to buy the attacker booze at Eighth and Market streets early Friday, police said. The thirsty thug became insanely jealous that the 47-year-old victim was drinking alcohol at the intersection about 1 a.m. The 50-year-old asked the victim to give him money for booze but was rejected, Sgt. Dennis Toomer said. In response, Toomer said, “the suspect hit him in the head with a metal pipe twice.” Read More

Tenderloin man beaten, bitten, strangled by new woman friend

A Tenderloin man was beaten with exercise weights and a kitchen table leg,  and also bitten and strangled, after asking a 27-year-old woman who was high on meth and booze to leave his apartment Thursday, police said. Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Eddy Street at about 7:30 a.m. and found the 37-year-old victim with lacerations, a bite wound and bruising on his neck, Sgt. Dennis Toomer said. Man guilty of killing fellow barfly

Lawrence Hoffman was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday for beating 70-year-old Joe Cosentino to death with a mallet in the Burlingame apartment they shared on Dec. 5, 2011. A San Mateo County jury found Hoffman guilty after less than two days of deliberations. Hoffman, 65, faces 26 years to life in prison when he is sentenced July 12. Read More

Mission shooting leads to highway chase

Three suspects fleeing police after a shooting in the Mission district early Thursday made it all the way to the Candlestick Park exit before their car crashed, police said, but one of them managed to escape. Police were reportedly nearby when gunfire erupted at Mission and 19th streets at about 2 a.m. Officers even saw shots coming from a vehicle, police said. The officers found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to the hospital while other units chased after a white sedan. Read More

Savage bar beating suspect pleads not guilty

A San Carlos man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he savagely beat another patron of a Belmont bar early Monday, critically injuring him. Joseph Patrick Kaufman, 23, and the 48-year-old victim had been drinking separately at Lariat Tavern, prosecutors said, but they got into an argument outside the bar after closing time about 2:15 a.m. The spat was over the older man's female friend, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.  Further details about a possible motive were not available. He's a son of a....loving mother? A drunken man who was reportedly enraged at his mom for refusing to hand him the keys to her car last week broke items in his parents’ Bernal Heights home, punched walls and overturned recycling bins before stomping off. Officers responded to the home near Cortland and Folsom streets at about 11:30 p.m. and found the allegedly shameful man-child a short distance away, police said. The man “violently resisted” both officers and tried to attack one of them, police said. Read More

A protester who was struck by a brick thrown from the roof of a Turk Street building last year during a protest reportedly refused to testify in court against the reckless lobber — reportedly in solidarity with the Occupy San Francisco movement. But prosecutors said that the video evidence was enough to pelt 34-year-old Jesse Nesbitt with one count of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the wild protest. Read More

66-year-old woman socked during robbery

A 66-year-old woman was punched in the face by a vicious transient who tried to make off with her necklace in the Mission district Tuesday, police said. But the 4:21 p.m. robbery in the 3000 block of 25th Street was thwarted when witnesses flagged down police. Ricardo Hinojosa Gonzalez, 49, was booked on charges that include robbery and possession of marijuana for sale, along with an outstanding warrant, Sgt.
