Belmont police today are asking for help in finding a man who entered a woman's on-campus Notre Dame de Namur University apartment early the morning of Aug. 13.
The woman awoke that Wednesday morning around 1:45 a.m. to find a man in his 20s in her studio apartment, police Capt. Dan DeSmidt said today.
The man fled after the woman woke up, and she immediately called the campus Department of Public Safety, which notified Belmont police.

South San Francisco police are looking for a woman who sold a victim two fake gold chains in exchange for cash Sunday night.
According to the police department, around 8 p.m. the suspect knocked on the door of a residence in the 400 block of Commercial Avenue.
When a woman came to the door, the suspect said she had just moved to the United States from Mexico, was short on money and was trying to make some cash to feed her twin 8-month-old babies by selling gold jewelry she brought from Mexico.

Two men convicted in separate murders pleaded not guilty in San Mateo County Superior Court Tuesday to charges of felony battery of a correctional officer for the beating they allegedly gave two correctional officers at the San Mateo County jail.
Faustino Ayala, 24, of Redwood City, and Brian Hedlin, 29, of Hayward, appeared in red jumpsuits and handcuffs and pleaded not guilty to the assault charges in front of San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Clifford Cretan.

A 21-year-old man faces up to life in prison if convicted of charges that he raped a woman at gunpoint near her East Palo Alto home Thursday night, a San Mateo County deputy district attorney said Tuesday.
East Palo Alto resident Etuati Kitieona Umaleava has been charged with one count of kidnapping for the purpose of committing sexual assault, two counts of forcible oral copulation and one count of forcible rape, all committed with the use of a firearm, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

A state appeals court in San Francisco has dismissed a dispute over whether an Alameda County juvenile court judge can order the young children of convicted murderer Hans Reiser to return from Russia for child welfare evaluations.
The Court of Appeal said in a decision issued Monday that the case is moot because the children are in Russia with their grandmother and are unlikely to return in the wake of their father's conviction for murdering their mother.
