While it’s not the NCAA Tournament, the Stanford men’s basketball team will be playing in the postseason, and in a familiar setting.
A year after winning the NIT, the Cardinal (18-14) will look to defend their title this time around and earn another trip back to Madison Square Garden.
Coach Johnny Dawkins’ squad earned a No. 4 seed in the tournament and will host Stephen F. Austin (27-4) at Maples Pavilion on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Only two other programs have won consecutive NIT championships, St. Johns in 1943 and 1944 and South Carolina in 2005 and 2006.
