Yu Darvish is coming to America to pitch.
Japan's best pitcher and the Texas Rangers agreed before Wednesday's deadline to a $60 million, six-year contract. In addition to the salary, the Rangers will pay a posting fee of $51,703,411 to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan's Pacific League.
"We look at this as really a perfect fit," general manager Jon Daniels said. "Obviously he has yet to pitch in the major leagues, but we feel he has proven himself on a big stage. ... "It's all winning."

Third baseman Pablo Sandoval showed the San Francisco Giants last year that he’s serious about his conditioning.The Giants, in turn, showed Sandoval on Tuesday that they’re serious about him.Sandoval, who rebounded from a down year in 2010 by getting in better shape and then hitting .315 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI, got a three-year contract extension worth a reported $17.5 million. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has been given a two-year contract extension through the 2014 season.
Selig has held the position since 1992, first as acting commissioner and then as commissioner since 1998. He will turn 80 in July 2014.
If he stays until September 2016, he would surpass Kenesaw Mountain Landis (1920-44) as the longest-serving baseball commissioner.
Selig's contract had been due to expire this Dec. 31.

Three-time NL MVP Albert Pujols agreed Thursday to a $254 million, 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels.
Pujols' contract, which is subject to a physical, is the second-highest in baseball history and only the third to break the $200 million barrier, following Alex Rodriguez's $252 million, 10-year deal with Texas before the 2001 season and A-Rod's $275 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees before the 2008 season.
"This is a monumental day for Angel fans and I could not be more excited," Angels owner Arte Moreno said.

Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman was stabbed to death early Monday and his brother was arrested as a suspect, Dutch police said.Rotterdam Police spokeswoman Patricia Wessels said police were called to a home in the port city in the early hours of the morning and found the 24-year-old Dutch player bleeding from a stab wound.The officers and ambulance paramedics were unable to resuscitate Halman.Wessels said the officers arrested Halman's 22-year-old brother. She declined to give his name, in line with Dutch privacy rules.
