BOSTON — Aside from the terrible weather, things really couldn’t have gone any better for the A’s on Tuesday.
The A’s ended a four-game losing streak with 13 runs, 13 hits and seven brilliant innings by a seemingly ageless Bartolo Colon in cruising to a 13-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. The game was called after seven innings following an entire night of rain and wind.
While the A’s broke out of a hitting slump that produced 10 runs during the losing streak, the story of the night was Colon, the chunky right-hander who officially turns 40 on May 24.

The commemorative plaque honoring home run king Barry Bonds' record 756th clout has gone missing from AT&T Park.
San Francisco Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said Tuesday night that the reigning World Series champions in the process of replacing the plaque, which hung on the brick facade inside the ballpark beneath the flag court area in right-center field until a few days ago. The team is investigating where the missing hardware might be, Slaughter said.

Barry Zito shook off the worst outing of his big-league career to give the Giants another impressive effort from their starting rotation.
Buster Posey’s first home run of the season made sure it held up.
Zito and Chad Gaudin combined on a six-hitter and the Giants beat the San Diego Padres 5-0 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.
Zito (3-1) bounced back five days after getting shelled by the Milwaukee Brewers when he failed to make it out of the third inning.
