Freezing rain in the Northwest is stranding some travelers trying to fly between the Bay Area and Seattle today.Two departures to Seattle from San Francisco International Airport had been canceled as of 9 a.m., both United Airlines flights, an airport duty manager said.At Oakland International Airport, three arrivals and three departures have been canceled. The Bay Bridge closures planned for Presidents Day weekend have now been made official: Westbound traffic will be shut down from 8 p.m. on Feb. 17 until 5 a.m. on Feb. 21.The shutdown is necessary for construction crews to demolish a section of the existing eastern span of the Bay Bridge, which is being completely rebuilt. During the construction work, the lower deck of the bridge will be open for eastbound traffic from San Francisco to Oakland, but the upper deck, which carries motorists in the opposite direction, will be closed.

BART service was slowed this morning after police stopped a train at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station to investigate a report of an assault, a BART spokesman said. The crime was reported at 7:40 a.m., prompting police to stop the train and search it, BART spokesman Jim Allison said. The train was released just after 8 a.m., but the incident caused delays of up to 30 minutes, he said. BART police Officer Era Jenkins said initial reports indicated that three to four suspects had battered a female victim.

Oakland police are urging Craigslist users trying to buy or sell merchandise to use caution after a string of armed robberies originating on the popular website.
Police said that robbers would either create a Craigslist posting advertising the sale of merchandise or respond to users selling merchandise and rob the victim when they arrived to complete the transaction.

Oakland police are looking for a 14-year-old boy who is suspected of committing two sexual assaults and robberies over the past week.Brionn Glasper has been described as an African American male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police say Glasper is a suspect in two sexual assaults and robberies that took place on Jan. 6 and 12.
