Arrests in Oakland protests rise to more than 400

Crews cleaned up Oakland’s historic City Hall on Sunday from damage inflicted overnight during violent anti-Wall Street protests that resulted in about 400 arrests, marking one of the largest mass arrests since nationwide protests began last year.At a press conference on Sunday, Oakland police and city officials said they did not have a final tally of arrests. A man found hanged at the Port of Oakland on Saturday afternoon has been identified as a suspect in a Friday homicide in San Leandro.The body of Henry Leon, 19, of Oakland, was discovered hanging from a structure off of Maritime Street at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday, an Oakland police officer said.Police are investigating the death as a suicide.Leon was a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old girl in San Leandro on Friday evening. Four men stabbed outside wedding reception in Half Moon Bay

Four people were stabbed outside a wedding in Half Moon Bay on Saturday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.Deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on Main Street outside the I.D.E.S. Hall at about 11:20 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.Four men in their 20s were leaving a wedding reception at the hall when they were approached and stabbed by two suspects.The four victims were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and all are expected to survive, according to the sheriff's office. A Sacramento woman was arrested for DUI after a crash that killed two men in Fairfield early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.Michelle Henry, 42, was driving a Buick Lucerne on westbound Interstate Highway 80 near Air Base Parkway at about 5:20 a.m., the CHP said.Henry was allegedly traveling at high speed when she struck the rear of a Ford Explorer, causing both vehicles to overturn, the CHP said. A woman with a small child in her car was arrested in San Leandro early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after an officer saw her throw a tequila bottle out her car window, police said. Driver killed in apparent road rage crash on I-80 in Richmond

The driver of a minivan was killed in an apparent road-rage crash on Interstate Highway 80 early this morning, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. The crash was reported around 5:40 a.m. on westbound I-80 just west of Carlson Boulevard. CHP Officer Sam Morgan said two vehicles were involved, a 1989 Ford van and a 2000 GMC pickup truck with two occupants. “It appears that this may have been a road rage-type incident,” Morgan said. Giselle Esteban pleaded not guilty today to a charge that she murdered nursing student Michelle Le, who disappeared in Hayward last May and whose body was found in September.Le, a 26-year-old San Mateo woman who was attending Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, disappeared from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Hayward on May 27.
