Two incidents delay BART

In unrelated incidents Tuesday afternoon, two people allegedly jumped in front of Bay Area Rapid Transit trains, killing one victim but leaving the other unscathed.The incidents took place almost within an hour of each other, first at the Union City station and then at West Oakland, BART spokesman Linton Johnson reported Tuesday.At Union City, a man described only as a "white man in his 40s," made his way onto the tracks at about 1:25 p.m. Johnson said it is unclear whether he jumped from the platform or got there some other way. Muni delays work on L-Taraval tracks

The replacement of Muni tracks older than 30 years in front of the West Portal station scheduled for Labor Day weekend has been postponed, according Muni spokeswoman Maggie Lynch.The San Francisco Municipal Railway had intended to replace the tracks in front of West Portal over the three-day weekend because "ridership is lowest on the holiday weekends," Lynch said. The shooting death of a shopkeeper in San Francisco’s Richmond district has police searching for witnesses and neighbors mourning their loss.On Saturday, a customer at the New California Market at 5701 California St. found Jinsun Lee, 54, unconscious and slumped over behind her counter.
