Reliever Ramon Ramirez agreed on a minor-league contract with the Giants, returning to the team he helped to win the 2010 World Series. Bobby Evans, vice president of baseball operations, said Tuesday the right-hander is a nonroster invitee to spring training. Bevy of Giants named to various World Baseball Classic rosters

The World Baseball Classic will have a Giants feel to it. Nine Giants, spread across several countries, were named to preliminary rosters on Thursday. Giants pitchers Jeremy Affeldt and Ryan Vogelsong are among 27 players on the U.S. roster, while Venezuela listed Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro, third baseman Pablo Sandoval and reliever Jose Mijares on its initial roster. Puerto Rico will feature outfielder Angel Pagan and left-handed reliever Javier Lopez, while right-handers Santiago Casilla (Dominican Republic) and Sergio Romo (Mexico) also were on rosters. Sergio Romo facing charges after Las Vegas airport incident

San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo is facing a misdemeanor summons in Las Vegas alleging he violated airport rules after being detained by authorities at McCarran International Airport on New Year's Day. The federal Transportation Security Administration issued a statement Thursday saying Romo failed to provide proper identification at a document checkpoint and engaged in a dispute with TSA officers about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Santiago Casilla agrees to 3-year extension with San Francisco Giants

Right-handed reliever Santiago Casilla and the Giants agreed to a $15 million, three-year contract. The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a club/vesting option for the 2016 season. The Giants said on Monday that Casilla is scheduled to take his physical today. The World Series champions have done their best this winter to keep the 2012 roster intact, re-signing center fielder Angel Pagan, second baseman Marco Scutaro and lefty reliever Jeremy Affeldt to multiyear contracts. Andres Torres is returning to the San Francisco Giants, who gave the outfielder his first chance as a regular two years ago. Torres signed a $2 million, one-year contract Thursday with the reigning World Series champions. He passed a physical to finalize the deal, the Giants said. San Francisco and free-agent center fielder Angel Pagan agreed to a $40 million, four-year contract Monday as the winter meetings got underway in Nashville, Tenn. A full postseason share for the World Series champion Giants was worth a record $377,003, breaking the mark that had stood since the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals. In the first year of the expansion of the playoffs from eight teams to 10, the players’ pool was a record $65.36 million, Major League Baseball said Monday. Giants’ Posey caps remarkable comeback with NL MVP honor

Buster Posey can add one more award to his trophy case as the Giants’ catcher ran away with National League MVP honors Thursday, securing 27 of 32 first-place votes. Posey surged into the race for the award with a scorching run in the second half of the season by hitting .371 from July 1 through the end of the season.
