San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo is facing a misdemeanor summons in Las Vegas alleging he violated airport rules after being detained by authorities at McCarran International Airport on New Year's Day.
The federal Transportation Security Administration issued a statement Thursday saying Romo failed to provide proper identification at a document checkpoint and engaged in a dispute with TSA officers about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Right-handed reliever Santiago Casilla and the Giants agreed to a $15 million, three-year contract.
The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a club/vesting option for the 2016 season. The Giants said on Monday that Casilla is scheduled to take his physical today.

Andres Torres is returning to the San Francisco Giants, who gave the outfielder his first chance as a regular two years ago.
Torres signed a $2 million, one-year contract Thursday with the reigning World Series champions. He passed a physical to finalize the deal, the Giants said.

Buster Posey can add one more award to his trophy case as the Giants’ catcher ran away with National League MVP honors Thursday, securing 27 of 32 first-place votes.
Posey surged into the race for the award with a scorching run in the second half of the season by hitting .371 from July 1 through the end of the season. That propelled the third-year pro to win the NL batting title with a .336 average to go with a .408 on-base percentage, 24 home runs and 103 RBIs.

Jeremy Affeldt made it known he needed some job security — and the reliable reliever got it.
The left-hander and the World Series champion San Francisco Giants completed an $18 million, three-year contract Wednesday. Bobby Evans, the team’s vice president of baseball operations, said the deal had been finalized to keep Affeldt in the Bay Area.

Left-hander Jeremy Affeldt, a key member of the bullpen that helped lead the Giants to their second World Series championship in three years, reportedly will remain with the team.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, the free agent agreed to a three-year deal that likely would pay him more than $18 million. Heyman wrote that the deal wasn’t finalized pending a physical. The report indicated that the St. Louis Cardinals also made a play for the 33-year-old veteran.

There has been talk that Bruce Bochy is a potential Hall of Fame manager, but any manager is only as good as his players. Now, Giants GM Brian Sabean has to make certain Bochy has the players.
This World Series championship team was much different than the first one just two years ago, which got contributions from players who were either not that good or, in the case of Edgar Renteria, having one last shot in a solid career. That was not a team for the ages.
This one, though, has a chance to remain competitive for the main prize, if Sabean can keep the pieces together.
