This time, Bryce Harper made the catch. And yeah, it was a relief.
Harper made a game-saving grab in right field and had a couple of big hits at the plate to help the Washington Nationals beat the Giants 2-1 in 10 innings on Wednesday.
San Francisco had runners on first and second with one out in the eighth when Harper had to dive to grab Hunter Pence’s sinking liner in the gap, keeping it tied at 1-1. He banged up his left knee on the play, but managed to stay in the game.

Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning after Gregor Blanco's tying triple in the ninth, and the Giants rallied past the Washington Nationals 4-2 on Tuesday night.Sandoval flipped his bat and shifted into a slow trot as soon as he sent the ball off Yunesky Maya (0-1) over the right-center field wall for his eighth homer this season. It was Sandoval's second career game-ending hit — both home runs against the Nationals — and San Francisco's sixth walk-off win this season.

When Jeremy Affeldt came to the Bay Area as an opposing player, he refused to leave his hotel room aside from going to and from the ballpark. He was admittedly homophobic.
When he joined the Giants five years ago, Affeldt became determined to get rid of his negative feelings toward the gay population. The transformation took time and a change of heart, given what he calls his “sheltered” upbringing in Eastern Washington. Now, Affeldt is more than comfortable saying he was wrong to judge a community based solely on sexual orientation.

The Giants put Ryan Vogelsong on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and prepared to be without their right-hander for two months in yet another challenge for their struggling starting rotation.
Vogelsong had surgery Tuesday morning at Stanford, one day after breaking his pitching hand while at the plate. The expected recovery time is 4-6 weeks, but Vogelsong likely would need a rehab assignment before rejoining the Giants.

Barry Zito couldn’t get on track in a second consecutive ineffective outing, and the Giants lost 5-0 to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
A 1-5 road swing finished with another thud. The starting pitchers had a 9.82 ERA and the fielders committed 13 errors on the trip.
“Overall, I think we had just a horrible trip,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “You have a rough week like this, I wouldn’t say concerned [about the rotation], but we’ve got to make some adjustments.”

Ryan Vogelsong’s 100th career start might have been his last for a while.
J.P. Arencibia and Adam Lind each hit two-run home runs, Ramon Ortiz won for the first time since 2011 and the Toronto Blue Jays won their season-high fourth straight game Wednesday night, beating Vogelsong and the Giants 11-3.
Vogelsong (1-4) allowed a season-high eight runs, three earned, in two innings, his shortest start of the season. The struggling right-hander, who has lost three of his past four starts, walked two and struck out one. His ERA rose to 8.06.

R.A. Dickey snapped a four-start winless streak, Melky Cabrera had four hits against his former team and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Francisco Giants 10-6 on Tuesday night.
Edwin Encarnacion drove in two runs and scored twice as the Blue Jays had a season-high 18 hits and won three straight games for just the second time this season.
