Warriors coach Mark Jackson has no problem admitting the Oklahoma City Thunder provide the blueprint for what he wants his team to become.

Rookie Harrison Barnes scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, making a pair of critical free throws in the final minute to help the Warriors hold off the short-handed Atlanta Hawks 92-88 on Wednesday night.
David Lee added 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Stephen Curry scored 12 to put the Warriors ahead by 13 points early in the fourth quarter. The Hawks hacked that lead to two but Barnes and Jarrett Jack each made a pair of free throws to seal Golden State’s victory.

When news surfaced Tuesday that Warriors center Andrew Bogut wouldn’t be making the team’s upcoming road trip starting Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, only one thought came to mind: Good.
While it certainly means Bogut will be out longer than the seven to 10 days Golden State laid out Nov. 8 for the Aussie big man to rest his surgically repaired left ankle, it’s a refreshing sign of caution. That’s something that obviously hasn’t been exercised with Bogut and that precious ankle up to this point.

Warriors center Andrew Bogut will be sidelined the next seven to 10 days to rest and strengthen his surgically repaired left ankle.
The announcement Thursday is the kind of setback Bogut and the Warriors were hoping to avoid this season. The 7-footer from Australia was held scoreless while playing 17 minutes in Golden State’s 106-96 win against Cleveland on Wednesday night. He had five assists and three rebounds.

Stephen Curry scored 21 points to go with six assists, and reserve Carl Landry added 19 points and nine rebounds to help the Warriors take a 17-point lead in the second quarter, go down a basket in the third and cruise to victory in the fourth.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and the Sacramento Kings held off the Warriors 94-92 Monday night to avoid an 0-4 start.
Cousins outworked slow-footed Andrew Bogut and every other Warriors big man to help Sacramento score 16 straight points during the third quarter and bust open a tie game.
Bogut hardly looked to be at full strength. He had 12 points and three rebounds while playing almost 19 minutes as Golden State’s new franchise center — and his surgically repaired left ankle — eases back into shape.

It felt like déjà vu at the Warriors’ home opener against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. The Warriors tipped off the 2012-13 season brimming with optimism and center Andrew Bogut showed why when he stuffed Grizzlies big man Marc Gasol in the lane early in the first quarter.

Carl Landry scored 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter and the Warriors overcame an awful post-contract night by Stephen Curry to beat the Phoenix Suns 87-85 in the teams’ season opener Wednesday.
Curry, who earlier in the day agreed to a four-year, $44 million extension with the Warriors, missed his first 10 shots from the field and wound up 2-of-14 with five points. He missed two free throws with 4.4 seconds left to allow the Suns a chance at a game-winning shot, but Sebastian Telfair’s 3-point attempt came after the buzzer, and misfired anyway.

If the stars line up in Oakland this year, the Warriors might just fulfill coach Mark Jackson’s promise from last season and make the NBA playoffs. The potential is ripe, as usual, but Jackson isn’t guaranteeing anything this year.
But as the 2012-13 season tips off in Phoenix tonight, Jackson is adamant about at least one thing: Klay Thompson’s rookie season wasn’t a fluke.
“He’s a big-time player,” Jackson said.
