ALAMEDA — Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie is looking for better luck this season with his free-agent cornerback additions.The Raiders signed Mike Jenkins on Tuesday to team with the recently added Tracy Porter to add experience to an untested secondary. ALAMEDA — The Oakland Raiders waived linebacker Rolando McClain on Friday, less than three years after drafting him eighth overall to be the centerpiece of their defense.
McClain was mostly a disappointment in Oakland. He struggled during his first two years and then clashed with coach Dennis Allen and his staff last season.
McClain had his role significantly reduced last season, was suspended for two games for conduct detrimental to the team, and did not play the final five games of the season. Read More

Carson Palmer has landed with the third team of his NFL career.
First Cincinnati, then the Raiders and now Arizona, it’s not exactly a ‘Who’s Who’ of NFL powerhouses.
But Palmer and his new coach insist that he’s coming to a Cardinals team built to win now, despite the fact it lost 11 of its last 12 a season ago.
The Arizona Cardinals acquired Palmer from the Raiders, then agreed to a two-year contract that could pay him up to $20 million with $10 million guaranteed.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders released defensive tackle Tommy Kelly on Wednesday, cutting ties with their longest-tenured position player on the roster.
The move is the latest to distance the organization from the era of late owner Al Davis. Kelly originally signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent in 2004 and quickly became a mainstay on the defense, signing a $50.1 million, seven-year contract to remain with Oakland in 2008. Read More

(AP) — Tackle Alex Barron signed a free-agent contract with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday as he hopes to revive his career after sitting out the past two seasons.Barron, a former first round pick by St. Louis in 2005, has started just one game since 2009. After playing sparingly in Dallas in 2010, Barron missed the entire 2011 season with New Orleans with a knee injury and was cut in training camp last summer by Seattle.Barron said he is once again healthy and that time away from football only reinforced how much he wanted to continue to play the game. ALAMEDA — The Raiders have re-signed free agent offensive lineman Khalif Barnes.
General manager Reggie McKenzie announced the deal Wednesday. Barnes is the first of Oakland’s 17 unrestricted free agents to re-sign with the team.
The Raiders did previoiusly re-sign restricted free agents Phillip Adams and Coye Francies.
Barnes has spent the past four seasons with the Raiders.
He has played 47 games and started 30 over that span. He has started 25 games at right tackle the past two years, missing seven games in 2012 with a groin injury. Read More
Rolando McClain’s tumultuous run with the Raiders is on the rocks, and likely coming to an end.
McClain was granted permission to seek a trade by the Raiders, the NFL Network reported. The Raiders have turned over more than 33 percent of the roster since Reggie McKenzie was hired as general manager in 2012.
The eighth overall pick in 2010 after an All-American season at Alabama, McClain is expected to be released. Teams are aware the Raiders are ready to part ways with McClain and his $4 million salary in 2013. Read More
The Raiders signed veteran outside linebacker Kevin Burnett, the team announced Sunday.
Burnett started 16 games for the Miami Dolphins last season, when he had 80 tackles, 29 assists and 2½ sacks.
He was recently released by the Dolphins.
The move suggests the Raiders may be thinking about switching to a 3-4 defense, although they have not said they will make that change.
Burnett’s brother, Kaelin, is also a linebacker with the Raiders. Read More
