The 49ers suddenly have a huge void in their receiving corps as they chase another Super Bowl berth: Michael Crabtree is sidelined after surgery on his right Achilles tendon. San Francisco’s leading wide receiver underwent surgery Wednesday, though the team is optimistic he will return at some point in 2013. Crabtree was operated on at Stanford by Dr. Tim McAdams one day after suffering the injury during 7-on-7 drills in an organized team activity. Read More

Jim Harbaugh to drive Indianapolis 500 pace car

Jim Harbaugh insists he will coachable when it comes to the tricks of driving the Indianapolis 500 pace car this weekend. The  49ers’ coach will return to the city where he spent four years as a player to take part in the Indy 500 festivities. Track officials made the later-than-usual announcement that the former NFL quarterback would be behind the pace car wheel in a news release sent out early Wednesday morning. Read More

Guard Snyder returns to 49ers

The 49ers signed Adam Snyder for two years, re-uniting the guard with the team after a one-year absence. Snyder, 31, appeared in 121 games during his eight-year NFL career that began with the Niners in 2005. He spent the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals. He signed a five-year, $17.5 million deal with the Cardinals last year, but lasted just one season. He was shoved out by Arizona’s new coaching staff after the organization used its first-round pick on North Carolina’s Jonathan Cooper.   Read More

The reigning NFC champion 49ers will get plenty of national exposure in the 2013 season, as five of their games will be played in prime-time.
