Colin Kaepernick’s favorite tattoo is on the inside of his arm and reads, “my gift is my curse.”
Relating that to his sudden rise to stardom as a quarterback preparing to play in the Super Bowl, Kaepernick is staying grounded by realizing that with fame comes scrutiny.
Every play is scrutinized, every word is dissected. He’s recognized everywhere he goes in public, and he has more ticket requests for Super Bowl XLVII than he can fulfill.

Niners running back Frank Gore has been fined $10,500 for wearing his socks too low during the NFC Championship Game.
Gore was fined for “failure to conform” due to his socks being too low in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN.
NFL players are required to wear their socks high to meet with the bottom of the uniform pants. Gore wore his socks about a foot too low down his leg.

The 49ers, one of the great franchises of the NFL, will finally return to the Super Bowl in search of a record-tying sixth Lombardi Trophy when they face the Baltimore Ravens on Feb. 3 in New Orleans.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the most Super Bowl wins, with six triumphs in eight appearances, and the Dallas Cowboys have five wins in eight, but the Niners are the only team to have appeared in multiple Super Bowls and won each of them.

Frank Gore ran for a pair of second-half touchdowns and the 49ers rebounded from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 in the NFC championship game Sunday, sending San Francisco to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.
The top-seeded Falcons (14-4) tried to pull out another season-saving drive at the end, but Matt Ryan's fourth-down pass for Roddy White with 1:13 remaining was knocked down by San Francisco linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
