The NFL announced preseason schedules Thursday, and the 49ers will take a trip to Kansas City in the second week of the preseason to face Smith and his new team the Chiefs. After Colin Kaepernick took over for the injured Smith midseason in 2012, he sparked the 49ers on a run that ended with a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. Asomugha's representative, Ben Dogra, said that Asomugha is expected to sign his new deal Wednesday. Charles Woodson's representative said Thursday that the veteran defensive back's visit with the San Francisco 49ers a day earlier went well and they were just waiting to hear back from the team. Agent Carl Poston said in a phone interview that Woodson spent all day Wednesday in sessions with the Super Bowl runner-up 49ers and was happy with the time he spent around the organization.
