San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis has taken his act back to the playing field.
He’s still posting to Twitter — on Monday, it was a photo of him flexing, captioned, “335lb. Bolt in the Big Red Machine” — but he’s also making an impression at training camp.
“I’ve been very impressed where Anthony is at,” offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins said on Tuesday. “He’s making a real effort to really understand and he’s putting extra time in. So I don’t think any of us could be more impressed with Anthony, what he’s doing right now.”
Davis applied for reinstatement last month after “retiring” for the 2015 season and is reportedly climbing the depth chart at camp ahead of the first preseason game this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
If fans want to catch the team live, tickets are incredibly cheap as they were available for as low as $8.45 on StubHub on Tuesday evening.
The khaki’d wonder
SportsBettingDime.com released a wide array of college football odds and prop bets on Tuesday, and it appears their oddsmakers are as obsessed with former 49ers head man Jim Harbaugh as we are.
They give the University of Michigan 10/1 odds of winning the National Championship. But that isn’t the most interesting figure. Here are the three most intriguing Harbaugh-related prop bets on offer:
— Odds Harbaugh will wear pants that are NOT khakis for at least one game in 2016: 12/1
— Odds athlete-chasing rapper Drake appears on the sideline of a U of M game for at least one game: 3/4
— Odds San Mateo native and suspended NFL quarterback Tom Brady attends a game played by his alma mater: 5/3
Stanford superstar Christian McCaffrey has also received a lot of attention in the run up to the 2016 college football season, and he is listed as having 13/2 odds of winning the Heisman (which he should’ve won last season). Bettors can also wager on the over/under for McCaffrey’s total (rushing/receiving/return) touchdowns, which is 19.5. (He had 16 last season.)
