Andre Iguodala will be back for Warriors

Trending Articles

Andre Iguodala has been playing the angles in anticipation of his free agency throughout the 2016-17 season.

On Saturday, he got what he wanted: To return to the Golden State Warriors with a major payday. The team and veteran forward agreed to a three-year, $48 million contract, as reported by ESPN.

Iguodala himself confirmed the report on his Twitter account.

With Stephen Curry, Shaun Livingston and David West already set to return, the Warriors’ off-season to-do list is dwindling.

They’ll now come to terms with Kevin Durant, who was holding off on re-signing until the other players were done negotiating.

After that, they’ll have to come up with a plan for the center position on the cheap — for the second year in a row.

General manager Bob Myers will have to weigh how ready Jordan Bell, drafted recently out of Oregon, will be in negotiating a deal.

(Ian Clark, JaVale McGee and Zaza Pachulia are all most likely gone.)

Signing Iguodala will be an expensive decision because it will put the Warriors well into the luxury tax. But owner Joe Lacob has made it clear that he’ll pay any price to keep a winning team together.

This weekend, he put his money where his mouth is.
