American Crossroads, a group often associated with Karl Rove (the group’s officials say his involvement is quite limited), plans to spend millions of dollars this year electing Republicans to the U.S. Senate. Their first ad buy, in Nevada, struck at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D, on economic policy.
Their new ad, in Ohio, is a positive spot designed to push former Republican Rep. Rob Portman’s numbers upward. The group says it is spending $500,000 on airtime.
Portman leads his opponent, Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher, D, but he has never polled above 45 percent.
